Why AmpBlock Was Created

When Chromium announced the deprecation of Manifest V2, many feared effective ad blocking was dead. Ad tech corporations hoped extensions would be hobbled.

AmpBlock was engineered from the ground up to prove that Manifest V3 can be even faster, more battery-friendly, and completely uncompromising when combined with surgical DOM manipulation and declarative kernel filtering.

Unlike commercial ad blockers that monetize by selling "Acceptable Ads" programs or routing user traffic through proprietary proxies:

  • Zero Remote Servers: AmpBlock has no central database, no analytics collection, and no telemetry pings.
  • Zero Data Selling: We do not know what websites you visit, how long you browse, or who you are.
  • 100% Local Execution: All whitelist rules, custom filters, and block counts live exclusively in your local chrome.storage.local.
